Students build AI-powered racing telemetry at Silverstone

EDITOR BRIEF

Arduino ran a hands-on workshop at Silverstone for 40 students aged 16 to 19, with support from Mission 44 and Qualcomm Technologies. Many had not used sensors, AI, or machine learning before, but they learned to collect live data, train an AI model, and explore an F1-style telemetry system. In the final activity, miniature cars used accelerometers, Bluetooth, edge processing, and computer vision to show lap data and crashes.

INSIGHTS

This is a good example of how coding, sensors, and AI can work together in a real project. A beginner could try a small telemetry build: read sensor data, send it over Bluetooth, and display simple results.
